Collegium Elections

  • 1. All the 7 Members of the Collegiums of the 11 Clubs shall be elected democratically only by the Delegates of the respective Clubs and the results will beeffective for the whole academic year.
  • 2. Each Candidate who is contesting for the positions of Member 1, Member 2, Member 3, Member 4,Member 5, Member 6 & Member 7 respectively of the Collegiums of all the 11 Clubs is subjected to be voted by all the Delegates of the particular Club.
  • 3. Any candidate who secures the maximum votes shall be declared victorious; All the candidates (including the runners) should secure at least one-fourth of the votes secured by the winner and otherwise he/she shall be disqualified from contesting for the Collegium Elections for the next academic year.
  • 4. The electoral process of a club shall be headed by the HOC of any club other than the same Club for the Election Period and he/she shall be considered as the HOC of that particular Club for the whole Election period and he/she shall be called The Empowered Head of the Club; Further, the electoral process shall be monitored by the Associate Head with assistance from the coordinators of the same club but strictly under the authority of the Empowered HOC.
  • 5. The electoral process of each of the 7 positions of Member of Collegium of a particular Club shall be overseen by the 7 Deputies from all Clubs except the same Club and they shall be called The Empowered Deputies of the particular Club for the whole Election period.
  • 6. The positions directed in Articles 4 & 5 shall be assigned and controlled directly by the Office of the Director of Clubs.It will take effect immediately when the date of the Collegium Elections is announced by the Director of Clubs.
  • 7. Any violations of law should be immediately reported to the presiding Empowered HOC by the empowered Deputies, Associate Heads or Coordinators.
  • 8. Any violations by the contestants shall lead to (a). Suspension or (b). Dismissal.
  • 9. In case of the exercise of 8.(a) then he/she will be barred from the whole political process which may correspond with the whole Election Period which unconditionally excludes his/her name from the list of Contestants and be brought to effect immediately.
  • 10. In case of the exercise of 8.(b) then he/she will be dismissed from the Club and is disqualified to be admitted to any of the Club in the concerned Academic year.
  • 11. Article 8. (a) Shall be enacted by (a). Head of the Club or (b). Director of Clubs.
  • 12. In compliance with Article 11 the Empowered Head of the Club (HOC) is authorized to act only within the particular Club to which he/she is assigned.
  • 13. Article 11.a shall be over-ruled by the Director of Clubs but only with the consent of the Chief of Head of the Clubs.
  • 14. In compliance with Article 11 the Director of Clubs (DOC) is authorized to actacross all the 11 Clubs.
  • 15. Article 8. (b) Shall only be enacted by the Director of Clubs (DOC); Nevertheless the Associate HOC and/or Chief of Head of Clubs shall approach the DOC and propose a dismissal of a particular candidate.
  • 16. Unlike in the case of Article 8. (b), Article 8. (a) Shall only be proposed to Empowered HOC by any lesser officials and not directly to the Director of Clubs.
  • 17. Any violations by the non-contestants shall lead to Suspension from the Clubs' political processes of the whole Academic year which may extend to the whole election period.
  • 18. In compliance with Article 17the concerned Delegate shall immediately loose his/her Right to Vote when he/she is suspended.
  • 19. Article 17 shall be enacted by either the Empowered Head of the Club or the Director of Clubs.
  • 20. A mutual agreement between the Director of Clubs, the Chief of Heads of the Clubs and the concerned EmpoweredHead of the Club of any particular club related to any particular issue, nomination, candidature, election result, violation, suspension/dismissal of any Delegate shall over-rule all the clauses and sub-clauses from Article 7 to 19 of this Election Statute.
  • 21. Nevertheless, If Article 20 of the Election Code goes against any of the Clause/Clauses or Sub clause/Sub clauses of the Constitution of Clubs then the Clauses of the Later should be considered authentic.
  • 22. One Delegate shall contest to any one of the 7 positions of the Collegium Members; nobody shall contest for say, Member 3 & Member 7 Simultaneously.
  • 23. If anybody is eligible to contest for more than one position as per the Lists of Eligibility by the HOC then it is to be left to the discretion of the Contestant that for which position he/she may contest.
  • 24. Any complaint/grievance/suggestion of the Contestant shall be reported directly to the Empowered HOC for the whole Election Period.
  • 25. All discipline related issues (related to disobedience, violence, irregularity etc.) Within the Election Period shall be reported by any of the subjects of any of the Clubs to the concerned Bench Member of the Discipline Committee.
  • 26. The concerned Bench Member of the Discipline Committee as directed in Discipline Code is the sole authority to sanction suspension/suggest dismissal of any student right from a Volunteer to a Senator.
  • 27. Any suspension made by the concerned Bench Member of the Discipline Committee under Article 26 of the Election Code shall not be over-ruled by any authority other than the Director of Clubs.
  • 28. Nevertheless, Article 26 does not empower any bench member to exercise his/her authority over any student due to any misconduct by him/her other than discipline related issues as directed in Article 25.
  • 29. If any action from the Discipline committee against any of the Contestants prevents him/her from contesting the Collegium Elections,then the decision is to be left over to the Director of Clubs'will.
  • 30. In a particular case of a Volunteer, Delegate, Member of Collegium, Collegium Secretary, Deputy, Secretary of Deputies' & Chamber Senator where the combined opinion of the concerned Associate Head, Empowered HOC, Chief of HOCs and the concerned Bench Member goes against Article 29 of the Election code then the former shall over-rule the later.
  • 31. The Right to Proclaim the Election results of a Collegium is vested with the respective Empowered HOCs; After the Proclamation, the results shall be formally handled to the Chief of HOCs by the respective Empowered HOCs.
  • 32. Once the requirements in Article 31 of the Election Code is fulfilled for a particular club then the 'Empowered' positions assigned by the Office of the Director of Clubs as directed in Articles 4 & 5 shall be withdrawn immediately and the respective HOCs and the selected Deputies of the respective Clubshallresume the office.
  • 33. The Secretary selected by the 7 elected members of a Club Collegium shall be announced by the respective HOC.
